The project
The "Il Gigante" supermarket chain added several properties formerly occupied by Iperdì, which was in bankruptcy at the time, to its property portfolio. Among these, the Paderno Dugnano store underwent a complete refurbishment, from the building envelope to the services supporting the store.
We supported the owner with the detailed design and site supervision of the building services, proposing advanced solutions with particular attention to sustainability and the store's appearance.
The works included reinstating the existing boilers and replacing the chiller in its existing position.
The supermarket is served by an all-air system divided between two units. Each unit serves part of the building through new galvanised-steel ductwork, externally insulated along outdoor runs and within suspended ceilings, while exposed sections are uninsulated. Circular, high-induction micro-perforated ducts were specified throughout the sales area. The electrical infrastructure was also completely revised, from the medium-voltage substation to the final loads.
The supermarket is supplied by a privately owned MV/LV substation with a 630 kVA transformer. The works also included replacing the incoming and circuit-breaker switchgear cubicles and installing a new power factor correction unit in the substation.
