The project
Al Faisaliah Center is a commercial skyscraper in the financial district of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Designed by Foster + Patners, the tower accommodates several uses, including a conference centre, luxury apartments, a shopping centre and a hotel with approximately 330 rooms. The building services commission involved assessing thermal energy demand, calculating pipe joint expansion and sizing the joints, and evaluating possible pipework compensation arrangements to determine expansion.
